Carolina Panthers Roster is Set but not in Stone

Carolina Panthers’ roster is down to 53. However, it won’t be finalized until adjustments are made.

CHARLOTTE, Nc. — Cut Day is over for the Panthers, but their final roster adjustments aren’t. Panthers made some decisions that left their fan base scratching their heads. Most notably, when the Panthers decided to release Joe Webb and keep Derek Anderson.

Though Anderson has proven consistency, his performance was dismal during a couple of games in the preseason. In addition, this move shows that the Panthers are banking on Cam Newton to be full-strength because they are going with two quarterbacks this season.

Defense/Special Teams

Panthers still have two kickers on the roster: Graham Gano and Harrison Butker. It’s the battle of veteran vs. rookie. However, the latest reports suggest that the Panthers are seeking offers for one or the other. This team has to decide if it’ll move forward with a seasoned kicker in Gano or leave those responsibilities of winning games in the hands, or foot, of Butker.
