Raw last night was a great episode for a change as it’s less than a week until the Royal Rumble, and as usual, I will break down the best highlights of the night as well as the results.
All In Or Nothing
Sami Zayn wanted to have a spot in the Royal Rumble match. Stephanie McMahon gave him an opportunity, she stated that Sami Zayn would have to battle Seth Rollins with in order to get a spot in the Royal Rumble. However, if Seth Rollins would lose the match he would lose his spot in the prestigious Royal Rumble match. It was a fantastic match both men delivered as expected. Rollins and Zayn left it all on the line. Rollins hit a devastating Pedigree on the apron to Zayn he rolled Zayn into the ring for the pin. Suddenly Triple H music hits and the crowd exploded. Seth Rollins was in complete shock and Zayn capitalized with a small package.
Goldberg’s made his return to Raw just one week before Royal Rumble. Goldberg made it clear that it doesn’t matter who the WWE Universal Champion he is coming for them. The mood changed with the appearance of Brock Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman came out with the beast Brock Lesnar. It looked like these two heavyweights look like they would go at it. The best was saved for last the classic gong tolled, the lights cut out which only meant one thing it’s The Undertaker.
Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows and the RAW Tag Team Championship Cesaro and Sheamus have built quite the rivalry. Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows should have won the Tag Team Championship last week if it was not for Sheamus who hit the referee. Luke Gallows took on Cesaro this week as he looked to gain revenge. The momentum went back and forth during the match until Gallows tapped out to the Sharpshooter. However, it did matter because Anderson distracted the referee. Gallows capitalized as he recovered and he connected with a big boot and fireman’s carry flapjack for the win. Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows have all the momentum heading into the Royal Rumble.
TJ Perkins, Jack Gallagher, and Mustafa Ali defeated Ariya Daivari, Tony Nese, and Drew Gulak. Ali hit his signature Inverted 450 Splash on Drew Gulak.
Braun Strowman, Rusev, Jinder Mahal and Titus O’Neil defeated The New Day, Enzo Amore and Big Cass. Braun Strowman connected with running Powerslam on Enzo Amore.
Roman Reigns defeated U.S. Champion Chris Jericho via Disqualification via interference from Kevin Owens.
Nia Jax defeated Ray Lyn via Banzai Drop
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann defeated Noam Dar via a spin kick.
