Miles leads the Mountaineers over TCU; prepare for No. 1 Baylor

On Saturday the TCU Horned frogs went to Morgantown, West Virginia to face off against the number 7 ranked Mountaineers. The Frogs come into this match 12-2 (1-1), the same record as the Mountaineers. The Mountaineers remained undefeated against the Frogs last night. With a phenomenal performance from beyond the arch. Junior Jevon Carter hit three consecutive three-pointers within three minutes of each other. Junior Daxter Miles Jr. tied his season high in points. With 22 points and seven rebounds, Miles had a stellar performance.

The Mountaineers were not without fault. The Press seemed to stop working at a few points throughout the game. The Mountaineers kept letting TCU come back, and even take the lead a couple of times. however, after a timeout called late in the 2nd half. Bob Huggins seemed to get the mountaineers back on track, just in time for them to seal the victory, and win by double digits.

TCU Standouts

The Frogs did have a few players who stood out from the rest. Sophomore guard Alex Robinson put up 17 points and was 9-for-11 from the line, giving him an 81% free throw rate. Junior forward Vlad Brodziansky had an exceptional game as well, 5-for-6 from the field and 4-for-4 from the line, Brodziansky accounted for 14 points and six rebounds.

In preparation for the future

The next time the Frogs and Mountaineers meet is at TCU on February 25th. With the home court advantage, if the Frogs can work on stopping the fast pace defense that West Virginia exhibits. They could walk away with their first win against Bob Huggins and the West Virginia Mountaineers.

WVU to face Baylor

On Monday the new AP rankings came out, and the Baylor Bears (15-0) are now the top ranked team in the country. WVU (13-2) fell to the 10th spot, after losing to Texas Tech last week. West Virginia host the Bears Tuesday in only the second AP top 10 match-up to come to Morgantown, since the Mountaineer’s entrance into the Big 12. The Mountaineers are 4-5 in their face offs against the Bears. This season the Bears are having a great season. After narrowly beating Oklahoma St. and Iowa State. Baylor will be facing the press, and a defense unlike any other team they have faced this year. If the Mountaineers can keep the Bears out of the paint, this Mountaineers team could hand the newly number 1 team in the country their first loss of the year.
