Morgan State Bears Homecoming Game

Baltimore – This Saturday the Morgan State Bears will take on Savannah State at Hughes Stadium for their homecoming game. Both teams will come into this matchup at 0-5 but by the end of the night, only one team will pull off an upset and get their first win of the year.

Despite Savannah State losing their homecoming last weekend 17-10 against Hampton, expect the Tigers running back Rashad Saxton to have a solid rushing game after rushing for 83 yards on 19 attempts last week. The Tigers quarterback David Handler should have an outstanding outing this weekend as well after having about a 60% percent completed passing rating last week, Handler threw for 102 yards. The Bears are going to be faced with many passes in the air from the Tigers, as it seems they have excelled when the ball is thrown in the air this season.

On the other side for the Bears, Herb Walker Jr and Eric Harrell will need to excel in the running game to put points on the board. Savannah State seems to struggle in the rushing defense this season and with the strong running backs of Harrell and Walker Jr, they will need to shine in the running game.

They keys to the game will be who has the best passing game? , Which defense applies the most pressure to the opponents quarterback?, and which team running backs will excel the most this Saturday? If 6’7 junior quarterback Elijah Staley has a better passing game than David Handler and Jai Franklin and the Morgan State Bears offensive line is applying constant pressure to Handler they could come away with a win on their homecoming.

On the other hand, the Tigers Quarterback David Handler has only played one game which was last week against Hampton and he seemed to play pretty well throwing for over 100 yards and completing 60% of his passes. If Handler has a lot of time in the pocket this weekend, the Bears will be in for a long night against the Tigers.

Delaware State, Morgan State and Savannah State are all tied at the number 9 seed after all of them have a five game loosing streak. The Hornets will be taking on the Howard Bison tomorrow where it looks like the Bison will have the advantage in that game. The Bears and the Tigers will be fighting for their first game of the season and the number 9 seed in the MEAC Conference Saturday.
