Talks Between Redskins, Garcon and Jackson Are Quiet

No Love for the Redskins’ Talented Wide Receivers

The Washington Redskins’ chances of getting back wide receivers Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson seem to dwindle by the day.

The Redskins haven’t talked with Jackson or Garcon since the season ended according to multiple sources around the organization. Free agency doesn’t start until March 9th which gives them time to get a deal done.

Garcon made it known publicly that he would love to come back to Washington. He expressed his love for the city, fans, and organization but knows his ability as a player. The veteran leadership that he can bring to a team is something he takes pride in. Garcon will not shy away from testing free agency if Washington isn’t serious or in a hurry about his contract.

Jackson has already told the public that he intends to test the free-agent market. There are a lot of talks in the league that Jackson would like to reunite with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jackson finished the season with over 1,005 yards and four touchdown receptions. 19 of his 56 receptions went for 20 yards or more. There is no doubt that Jackson can still take the top off a defense at age 30. Garcon also had a very productive year with 79 receptions for 1,041 yards and three touchdowns.

Washington will not only have to worry about Jackson and Garcon but also figuring out the future of Kirk Cousins. Jamison Crowder had 847 yards and seven touchdowns, but himself alone will not be enough to fill the void of losing both receivers. Jordan Reed is also a receiving weapon for Washington but has a problem staying healthy. With the possibility of losing both Jackson and Garcon, Washington will have to find multiple wide receivers this offseason. Free agency and the draft will be the targets if a deal can’t get done.

It’s likely that the Redskins will find some way to get at least one of these two receivers signed but the question is which one do they want more.
