West Virginia looking for first win in SEC Challenge

On Saturday, Bob Huggins and the Mountaineers will host Billy Kennedy and the Texas A&M Aggies. This is the fourth time the Mountaineers have participated in the challenge. This will be the Third time the Aggies face the Big 12. The Mountaineers are coming off a win that demands national conversation, beating the number two team, the Kansas Jayhawks. Texas A&M is coming off a 2 win streak against both Ole Miss and UGA.

History

This will be the Aggie’s third appearance and they split the board with a 1-1 record losing to Oklahoma in 2014 and beating Iowa State in 2016. The Aggies are 11-8 this season and 1-3 away. This going against the number 18, Mountaineers who are 16-4. With 11 of those wins coming in Morgantown, and only 1 loss coming in the Coliseum. This combination of a poor road record from the Aggies and a near perfect home record from the Mountaineers could result in the Huggins’s first win in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Mountaineers are winless in the challenge, losing to Missouri, LSU, and Florida. The Big 12 has won the challenge the last three years in a row (7-3, 6-4, 7-3).

Picks?

I will be pulling for West Virginia tomorrow. Bringing a defense unlike any other team in the nation. Filling the coliseum with 14,000 screaming Mountaineers, presents a tough environment for any team.
