Lamar Jackson’s Browns status is still up in the air. The Ravens quarterback missed practice again Thursday with the left ankle sprain that has kept him off the field for 11 days.
Head coach Jesse Minter is calling Jackson day to day and says his quarterback will play “when he’s able to be.” Minter said earlier in the week that Jackson was “definitely doing better.” On Wednesday, ESPN reported, citing a league source, that Jackson had a realistic chance to play Sunday.
Huntley ready if needed
If Jackson can’t go, Tyler Huntley would make his second straight start. Huntley was sharp last week in Atlanta, going 24 of 32 for 201 yards and two touchdowns. He then won it with a 1 yard touchdown run in overtime of a 30-23 victory. He has won all three of his starts for Baltimore since the start of last season.
Jackson got hurt on the final play of the first half in the 24-18 win over Tennessee. He was 15 of 20 for 222 yards and two touchdowns before he was sacked and did not return.
The rest of the injury report
There is good news on the pass rush. Trey Hendrickson missed two games after surgery on a broken finger, and he says he feels ready for a full snap count.
Receiver Rashod Bateman (shoulder) did not practice, but Minter expects him to play Sunday. Guard John Simpson (groin), defensive lineman Broderick Washington (ankle) and Matt Hibner (hand) also sat out. Center Cam Jurgens was limited as he works through the final step of the concussion protocol. Zay Flowers (toe) and Mike Green (hamstring) were added to the report as limited.
Division play begins
The 4-1 Ravens visit Cleveland on Sunday in their first AFC North game of the season. Baltimore has some breathing room in the standings, and how they handle Jackson’s ankle this week could matter well beyond one Sunday.
