On Tuesday, former Chicago Bears wide receiver Tarik Cohen worked out for the Carolina Panthers and the team is expected to sign him to their practice squad on Wednesday. Cohen, a North Carolina native and product of NC A&T, has been out of the league since suffering MCL and ACL tears as well as tibial plateau fracture in September 2020.
The Bears selected Cohen in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In his second season he was voted to the All-Pro and Pro Bowl teams. He was only one week removed from signing a three-year/ $17.25 million contract extension when he suffered the knee injuries fielding a fair catch during a Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He missed the entire 2021 season and was released in March of 2022. A few months later, Cohen ruptured his Achilles tendon while working out on Instagram Live.
Born and raised in NC, Cohen had a stellar career for the Aggies leaving as the MEAC’s all-time leading rusher, a Walter Camp FCS All-American, a Black college national championship, and a host of other accolades. Now he’s healthy and ready to take the next step in his return to the NFL.
