The Carolina Panthers on Tuesday made a few roster moves ahead of their Thursday night matchup with the Chicago Bears. Linebacker Chandler Wooten joins an ever-growing list of players on injured reserve after hurting is ankle in Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The 24-year old saw most of his snaps on special teams and recovered a muffed punt against the Colts.
Wooten makes it 8 Panthers from the defensive side of the ball on IR. He joins defensive end Henry Anderson, safety Jeremy Chinn, cornerback Jaycee Horn, outside linebackers Yetur Gross-Matos and Justin Houston, and linebackers Shaq Thompson and Claudin Cherelus. Starting left guard Brady Christensen and tight ends Ian Thomas and Giovanni Ricci also on injured reserve.
Carolina signed tight end Jordan Matthews to the 53-man roster from their own practice squad and signed linebackers Blake Martinez and Ace Eley to the practice squad.
There is a glimmer of good news, however. Outside linebacker Marquis Haynes, Sr returned to practice on Monday, beginning his 21-day window to return from injured reserve.
