Predicting the Washington Commander 53-Man Roster

As the preseason draws to a close the day of dread comes upon us. By Tuesday at 4:00pm the Commanders must get down to 53 players on the roster. Here is how I think the roster will stand at that point, I believe it will be different come the first game of the season in Tampa. (Projected starters are in bold.)

Offense (25)

Quarterbacks (2)- Jayden Daniels, Marcus Mariota- I think this is settled. Driscoll will be on the practice squad. They do like Hartman and he maybe put on IR.

Running Backs (3)- Brian Robinson Jr., Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols. The only battle is between McNichols and Chris Rodriguez. Giving the slight edge to McNichols because this current staff brought him in. The one on the outside will be on practice squad.

Wide Receiver (7)- Terry McLaurin, Dyami Brown, Olamide Zaccheaus, Luke McCaffery, Jamison Crowder, Bryon Pringle, Bryson Tremayne. With the departure of Jahan Dotson this allows Pringle to make the team. I still believe that the team will add a receiver after cut day. Mitchell Tinsley, Kaz Allen, and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint should be practice squad.

Tight End (4)- Zach Ertz, John Bates, Ben Sinnott, Cole Turner. With only two quarterbacks being kept allows a seventh receiver and a fourth tight end. Turner was used plenty in preseason in two tight end sets so I believe he makes it. Colosn Yanoff is a practice squad candidate.

Offensive Line (9)- Brandon Coleman, Nick Allegretti, Tyler Biadaz, Sam Cosmi, Andrew Wylie, Cornelius Lucas, Chris Paul, Michael Dieter, Trent Scott. I believe this is the offensive line unit going forward. The starters are ok but the depth is certianly at question.

Defense (25)

Defensive Line (8)- Clelin Ferrell, Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, Dorance Armstrong, K.J. Henry, John Ridgeway, Jer’Zhan Newton, Andre Jones Jr. I believe the battle is between Ridgeway and Mathis and Ridgeway has the edge in two fronts: health and he came from Dallas under Quinn.

Linebacker (5)- Dante Fowler Jr., Bobby Wagner, Frankie Luvu, Jamin Davis, Anthony Pittman. Jordan McGee would have made this roster but he is injured. Mykal Walker will be on the practice squad.

Cornerbacks (6)- Benjamin St. Juste, Michael Davis, Mike Sainristil, Emmanuel Forbes, Tariq Castro-Fields, Chigozie Anusiem. This should be the group, for Tuesday. (Watch the wire.)

Safeties (6)- Jeremy Chinn, Quan Martin, Darrick Forrest, Jeremy Reaves, Percy Butler, Tyler Owens. The versatility of Martin allows this to happen to keep Butler. Owens will be the new swiss army knife.

Specialists (3)

Tress Way, Tyler Ott, Cade York. The trade for Cade York settled the one question mark

That’s my prediction. Anything you would change?
