The Carolina Panthers arrived back in Charlotte eager to put the beating they took at the hands of the New Orleans Saints behind them and prepare for Week Two. To add insult to injury, they have to do so without star defensive lineman Derrick Brown. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that Brown suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury in Sunday’s loss. The Pro Bowler’s meniscus injury will require surgery. That’s a big blow to the Panthers after the team put up a dismal performance in all three phases of the game in Dave Canales’ head coaching debut. Long-suffering Panthers fans weighed in on X after the news with many sighting the team’s misfortunes as karma for cutting Cam Newton before the 2020 season.
