Commanders 49ers Injury Report: Diggs, Croskey-Merritt and Mariota Sit Out Thursday

The Commanders’ 49ers injury report got longer on Thursday, and it includes some of Washington’s biggest names. Stefon Diggs, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, and Marcus Mariota did not practice as Washington got ready for its Monday Night Football matchup with San Francisco.

Diggs is dealing with a hamstring injury, and Croskey-Merritt is nursing a groin injury. Both missed the full session. Mariota sat out with the knee injury he has carried since Week 4. He and defensive end Charles Omenihu (groin, ankle) were seen working off to the side, according to SB Nation’s Hogs Haven.

The secondary is thin too. Safeties Percy Butler and Tyler Owens both missed practice with hamstring injuries. Outside linebacker Javontae Jean-Baptiste also did not practice because of a new pectoral injury.

Limited and full participants

Terry McLaurin was limited with a hamstring issue. With Diggs also hurt, Washington’s top two receivers are both nursing hamstrings. Running back Austin Ekeler (chest), receiver Treylon Burks (shoulder), linebacker Jordan Magee (hamstring), safety Quan Martin (illness), cornerback Fabian Moreau (knee) and safety Jeremy Reaves (rib) were also limited.

There was some good news on the list. Cornerback Trey Amos (ankle), outside linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson (knee), safety Nick Cross (illness), defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw (ankle), running back Jeremy McNichols (quad) and running back Rachaad White (shoulder) were all full participants. Hogs Haven also reported that Jayden Daniels practiced fully.

What it means for Monday night

Washington comes in at 1-3-1 after last week’s 27-27 overtime tie with the Giants, and the bye is waiting in Week 7. A banged up backfield and receiving corps would put more on Daniels against a 49ers defense that has its own injury questions.
