Bryce Young has led the first scoring drive of his NFL career. Sure he would’ve rather hit pay dirt, so to speak, but a field goal would do for now after the Carolina Panthers put up a goose egg in the first preseason game. Young’s first series was 3-and-out. The second possession, the rookie led the Panthers on a 15-play drive capped by a 37-yard field goal by Matthew Wright.
That was it for the No. 1 overall pick and Matt Corral played the remainder of the game. The play calling is still “vanilla” by head coach Frank Reich’s admission, but there are still glaring areas that need improvement. Young finished the night 3-of-6 for 35 yards and was sacked once.
