Another sec showdown getting ready to implode on Saturday afternoon. The Rebels of Ole Miss (3-4) are taking on the Auburn Tigers who are coming off a dominating performance against Arkansas.
Auburn (5-2) had 500 totals yards of offense against Arkansas. A team that that during the start of the season looked like they could make some noise and be bowl contenders, but their true colors are starting to show. However, Auburn’s defensive secondary might have some trouble going up against Chad Kelly and the Ole Miss passing attack. Kelly has proven that he can not only throw with the best of them, but he can also run and score as well. The Auburn defense might have something to say about Ole Miss trying to run the ball on them. Over the course of this season, the Tiger defense has kept their opponents to just an average of 129.7 rush yards per game.
In order for Ole Miss to win this game, they will have to rely more on their passing game, than their run game. Going back to Auburn’s game against Arkansas last week, it’s important to point out that five different players scored a touchdown last week on the ground. The person that had the most productive game was RB Kamryn Pettway who had 27 carries 192 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
“When we get the tempo going, especially being able to tempo and downhill run, we are at our best.” said Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn.
If his team wants to be successful this Saturday then they need to keep that same recipe for success, heading into Saturday night’s game.
