The NY Giants (5-3) defeated the Philadelphia Eagles (4-4) 28-23 in a close NFC East divisional game.
The Eagles fell behind 14-0 early in the first quarter after two Carson Wentz interceptions. The Giants were able to capitalize as Eli Manning threw touchdown passes to Odell Beckham Jr. and Roger Lewis.
This game had big plays offensive from both teams—six plays of 30 yards or more. The big plays from the Eagles came as a surprise as the Philly offense lacked the big plays all season. The biggest play came from WR Bryce Treggs, who was making his NFL debut, hauled in a 58-yard reception.
Treggs was inserted into the Eagles lineup in replace of Josh Huff who was released by the team after being charged with possession of a handgun without a permit and having a small amount of marijuana during a traffic stop.
Manning and his receiving corps picked on every Philly defensive back, with Leodis McKelvin being the biggest target no matter who he tried to cover.
Manning found Beckham on a slant after McKelvin failed to bump him at the line, and Beckham eased into the end zone for a 26-yard score.
Despite the mismatch the Giants receivers had on the Eagles secondary, Philly’s defensive unit was able to keep the game close being down by as many as 11.
The Eagles offense would find the end zone twice and a pair of Caleb Sturgis field goals gave the birds a chance to try to pull out their first division win this season. But two fourth-down calls in the red zone from head coach Doug Pederson resulted in a turnover on downs and essentially left a total of six points off the board for the Eagles.
The Giants got the ball with under 4:00 left after an Eagles field goal. New York had a chance to control the clock and keep the ball on the ground. They started the drive doing just that. Calling running back Paul Perkin’s number four plays in a row.
But Giants head coach Ben McAdoo decided to let Manning throw for a 3rd and 4 and the pass was picked off by Eagles linebacker Jordan Hicks giving the Eagles the ball back at the Giants 34 with 1:48 left in the game.
Philly had a chance to take the lead but after three straight incomplete throws by Wentz and an incomplete fourth down throw to Jordan Matthews in the corner of the end zone, the Giants held on to win their third straight game.

Giants WR Victor Cruz hurt his ankle in the first half, and LG Justin Pugh sprained his right knee in the second quarter. Neither returned. Eagles safety Terrence Brooks left with a hamstring issue.Â
