SmackDown knew it had to deliver due to the fact that RAW had an entertaining episode after a disappointing Fastlane.
Main event years in the making
This main event was years in the making. I wanted to see this match since back in 2004 and 2005. This was a dream match because it was impossible to happen in the past, due to the fact that both wrestlers worked in different promotions. Their first ever encounter did not disappoint and both Styles and Orton brought it to each other as expected. Orton got the last laugh as he got the win with an RKO out of nowhere. This left AJ Styles on the outside as “The Phenomenal One” still does not have a match at WrestleMania.
Against all odds
SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss came out and she would address who her opponents would be at WrestleMania. Bliss was rudely interrupted by Becky Lynch and Natalya. All of a sudden SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan announced, that Bliss would have to defend her Championship against every woman on the SmackDown Live roster.
Emotions are running high
After the main event, AJ Styles lost his emotions and he got into a heated argument with SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon backstage. The footage was released later on WWE Network’s Talking Smack. Styles has the right to be mad with the lost to Randy Orton in the main event. Styles, after all, he has exceeded all the challenges that were put in front of him. He defeated Luke Harper a week prior to being crowned the new one contender for the WWE Championship. This feud is far from being over only time what will happen.
SmackDown results
John Cena and Nikki Bella defeated James Ellsworth and Carmella via an STF submission
Dean Ambrose called out Baron Corbin for the second straight week. Then Ambrose took it into his own hands and went backstage but it was a setup as Corbin assaulted him with a steel pipe.
Mickie James connected with Mick Kick on BeckyLynch, but Bliss would blind tag herself in to score the victory over Becky Lynch and Natalya.
