Lamar Jackson Ruled Out vs. Browns, Huntley Gets Second Straight Start

The Baltimore Ravens will be without their quarterback again this weekend. Lamar Jackson was ruled out Friday for Sunday’s game at Cleveland. It will be the second straight game he misses with an ankle injury.

Jackson got hurt late in the first half of the Week 4 win over Tennessee. He has not practiced since, according to the team and the Associated Press. Head coach Jesse Minter has described his status as day-to-day.

Tyler “Snoop” Huntley gets the start again. Last week he led Baltimore to a 30 to 23 overtime win at Atlanta, throwing for 201 yards and two touchdowns. He has won each of his last three starts, a streak that goes back to last season.

Jackson isn’t the only Raven sitting this one out. The Ravens also ruled out center Cam Jurgens (concussion), tight end Matt Hibner (hand) and defensive tackle Broderick Washington Jr. (ankle). Rookie Vega Ioane will start at center again, and rookie tight end Josh Cuevas should see more snaps.

There is some good news. Pass rusher Trey Hendrickson practiced all week after finger surgery and carries no injury designation. Receivers Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman are also clear. The team listed guards Andrew Vorhees (foot) and Emery Jones Jr. (ankle) as questionable.

The game has a storyline beyond the quarterback. Browns head coach Todd Monken spent the past three seasons as Baltimore’s offensive coordinator. In addition, Sunday matches two first-year head coaches in Minter and Monken. Baltimore comes in at 4 and 1, while Cleveland is 3 and 2.

Cleveland has issues of its own up front. Opponents have sacked Deshaun Watson a league-leading 19 times. That gives Hendrickson and the Baltimore pass rush a clear target.
