Neville has gone through quite the transformation from NXT to being stuck on the main roster. In the process, while he was on the main roster on RAW he suffered a devastating ankle injury. Now he is finding his stride and he is finally reborn once again.
Early success
At the time Neville and his tag team partner Oliver Grey made history together in the early stages. They won a tournament to be crowned the inaugural NXT Tag Team Champions. They defeated The Wyatt Family Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. That was not the only title he won during his time at NXT. Neville was featured on the first NXT special on the WWE Network it was called NXT Arrival. Neville won the NXT Championship from Bo Dallas in a ladder match. Bo Dallas got his rematch on an episode of NXT weeks after but he was unsuccessful in regaining his Championship.
Feuds in NXT
Neville had a great feud with Tyson Kidd they had incredible chemistry together in the ring. At NXT TakeOver, Neville successfully defended the NXT Championship against Tyson Kidd. Then weeks later, Neville scored another victory over Kidd. The next NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way event, Neville successfully defended his NXT Championship against Sami Zayn, Tyler Breeze and Tyson Kidd in a fatal four-way match.
Then Neville made history as he became the longest reigning NXT Champion of all-time. However, Neville luck would eventually run out at the NXT TakeOver: R Evolution. He would finally lose this NXT Championship to Sami Zayn, which ended his reign at 287 days.
Comeback
At Roadblock: End of the Line, Neville made a shocking return back to the WWE. He came down to the ring to congratulate the WWE Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann. After his match, he had a change of heart and he attacked Swann and his opponent TJ Perkins. As a result, Neville turned heel for the first time in WWE and he decided to join the Cruiserweight division.
Turning heel
The next night on RAW, he stated that the only reason why the fans cheered for him in the past because he was small and vulnerable. He self-proclaimed himself as “The King Of The Cruiserweights. Right now he doesn’t need the fans anymore because he doesn’t care what they think. Neville has always struggled with promos and it was hard to understand him due to his accent. Fast forward he is cutting his best promos on the mic they grab your attention and when he speaks the fans listen. I have to give him credit he worked hard on his weakness and now it has become a strength.
WWE Cruiserweight Champion
At the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, Neville defeated Swann to capture the WWE Cruiserweight Championship for the first time. The WWE Cruiserweight Championship marks his first title since he rejoined the main roster.
Conclusion
Timing is everything and Neville has finally found himself as a heel. I have never been this invested in him since his early NXT days. I envision Neville will have a long and successful run as the WWE Cruiserweight Champion.
