Panthers Make Roster Moves Ahead of Fan Fest

The Panthers roster shuffled a bit this past week as the team heads down to Clemson for Fan Fest to kick off the franchise’s 30th season. Prior to Tuesday’s training camp practice, veteran running back Rashaad Penny was placed on the reserve/retired list. The 28-year old had signed with the team in May. In 45 games, he ran for 1,951 yards and 13 touchdowns during stints with the Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles.

In a corresponding move, the team signed wide receiver Tayvion Robinson, an undrafted rookie from Kentucky. The next day, rookie running back Dillon Johnson as wide receiver Daewood Davis went to the waived/injury designation after going down in practice on Monday. Johnson, undrafted out of Washington, ran for 1,195 yards while scoring 16 touchdowns for the Huskies last season.

On Thursday, the team added Curtis Hodges, a tight end that spent the last two seasons on the Commanders roster. While he didn’t appear in a game for Washington, he played collegiately for Arizona State. To accommodate the signing, tight end Stephen Sullivan was placed on injured reserve due to a quadriceps injury.

The Panthers will be in full pads for the second time in three days as they hold an intrasquad scrimmage at tonight’s Fan Fest, being held at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium.
