Charlotte was born to be a wrestler due to the fact that it was in her blood. She is the daughter of Ric Flair, a 16-time world champion. Due to his iconic status, Charlotte has proven herself worth thus far. Let’s take a look at her journey:
Humble Beginnings
NXT
Charlotte has had an interesting journey up to this point. Back in 2012, she signed a developmental contract and officially signed to the NXT roster in 2013. Fans could witness that she was a special talent and genetically superior compared to all the other women wrestlers. Charlotte was introduced to the fans in NXT via a faction called “Beautiful Fierce Females” with Sasha Banks and Summer Rae.
Charlotte was a part of history as she competed in a tournament to crown a vacant NXT Women’s Champion. She defeated Emma in the first round then defeated Alexa Bliss in the semi-finals. Charlotte met Natalya in the finals as the two battled for the NXT Women Championship. It was intriguing because both women come from legendary wrestling families the Flairs and the Harts. Charlotte managed to outlast Natalya and became the new NXT Champion.
This match officially put Charlotte on the map and the rest was history having a long NXT Women’s Championship reign. She dropped the belt at NXT Takeover Rival in a Fatal 4-Way elimination match against Banks, Bayley and Lynch her reign ended at 259 days as champion. Charlotte, surprising stayed in NXTÂ for two more years which ended up being a valuable experience.
Women’s Revolution
Charlotte struggled to find herself on the main roster for months in terms of having a personality. She finally found her magic with her character once she was paired up with her father Ric Flair which was no surprise. At the Night of Champions pay-per-view for the Divas Championship, she would beat Nikki Bella. During this rivalry, she would find ways to steal victories to retain it. At WrestleMania 32 the WWE introduced a new Women’s Championship that would replace the Divas Championship. Charlotte defeated Lynch and Banks to become the WWE Women’s Champion. This was the best move for the company because it legitimized Women’s Wrestling again for the first time in a long time and it finally killed the term of Diva.
Legendary
Could Charlotte be approaching legendary status in the Women’s Division? She is now a four-time Women’s Champion. Since Charlotte debuted with the WWE on the main roster she is currently 18-2 on pay-per-views and she went 15-0 on pay-per-views this year. The WWE is portraying Charlotte as a special attraction, involving her in big matches, for example, the first ever Women’s Hell In A Cell and Iron Man match. I compare Charlotte and The Undertaker because before them fans have never seen anybody like them and they always deliver in big matches. Both will leave their signature on the business once they retire.
