They say timing is everything and that is true as it relates to Bobby Roode. Even though I believe that Roode should have been in the WWE seven years ago. He accomplished everything in wrestling that could there was only more stage that he needed to go to and that was the WWE.
Rapid success
Bobby Roode was shown in the crowd at NXT TakeOver: Dallas in April. That led to speculation that he was signing to the company. In June at NXT TakeOver: The End, Roode appeared backstage during an interview with NXT General Manager William Regal. Roode gave a hint that he has signed to the company as he walked into Regal’s office. Roode made his official NXT debut at NXT TakeOver Brooklyn II as he took on Andrade “Cien” Almas. Then Roode had an impressive showing with Almas by pinfall. On September 14 Roode made his NXT debut on TV.
Gimmick
Roode arguably has the best gimmick and theme song in the WWE. Every time his theme song comes on the fans sing the entire song as they know every word. He reminds of a young Ric Flair the way he carries himself as a champion and he looks like a million dollars with his long robe.
Mic work
Roode is very underrated he is the complete package in the ring and on the mic. When he speaks the fans listen and he provides credibility with everything he says because it’s. He is one of the best talkers in the company.
Feuds
Bobby Roode has only had a couple memorable feuds in his early NXT career. His first one was Tye Dillinger initially formed a tag team with Roode in the Dusty Rhodes tag team classic. However, Roode had different plans he walked out on Dillinger as he lost to SAnitY members Alexander Wolfe and Sawyer Fulton as they won the match.
They would interfere in each other matches leading up to a match at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. It was a perfect homecoming for Roode as he would defeat Dillinger. In December, Roode defeated Oney Lorcan to qualify for a fatal-four way match on the following week’s episode of NXT. Roode would defeat Andrade Almas, Roderick Strong, and Tye Dillinger in a fatal four-way match as he became the number one contender for The NXT Championship.
NXT Champion
On the January 18, Roode and Shinsuke Nakamura had their NXT Championship contract signing for their match on January 28, 2017, at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio. Both men put on an instant classic and they delivered as expected. Roode defeated Nakamura with multiple Glorious DDT to win the NXT Championship. He made a statement on Nakamura by putting him on the injury shelf as he applied the single leg Boston Crab.
Conclusion
Bobby Roode will have a long run as the NXT Champion and his short career in NXT so far has been nothing short of glorious. Roode has the making to be an all-time great and a future WWE Hall of Famer no doubt about it.
