Three Keys to Victory For The Washington Commanders

“Any Given Sunday” is the phrase especially in the National Football League. That has to be the motto today as Washington hosts the defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks. Washington is battling injuries all over the field including the absence of QB Jayden Daniels. Seattle has won 12 straight games and are looking to get to 13. This is the longest streak since the Kansas City Chiefs of 2023-2024 who won 15 games in a row. Here is what Washington can do to win this game.

1. Stay Balanced

Washington on offense has to stay on schedule. So those two yard runs that do not seem beneficial at the beginning will play dividends. The Seahawks defense is aggressive especially on 3rd downs, so Washington must be in 3rd and three and less. Offensive Coordinator David Blough must force the issue to Seattle. Do not shy away from attacking the middle of the field in the run game.

2. Increase the Pressure

Washington in facing QB Sam Darnold, who is coming back from injury, need to speed him up. While Seattle’s offense is really good, Darnold’s mobility and game speed will be a little off. Getting a consistent pass rush can help other facets of defense deal with the Seahawks offense. The defensive line is the healthiest portion of the team and they need to control this game.

3. Cover JSN

This should be without saying but where ever Jaxson Smith-Njigba goes, he needs to have two bodies on him at all times. Smith-Njigba is used all over the field and is solid in all facets: short, intermediate, and stretching the field. Last season against Washington he had 8 receptions for 129 yards. If Washington can contain him to 50 yards receiving then they have a solid chance. That is easier said than done but I’d take my chances with Amik Robertson following Smith-Njigba around the field.

Prediction

I believe being at home with their backs against the wall Washington plays a great game. However I feel Seattle is in a better position health wise and will use their experience to win a tough game. 24-20 Seahawks
