Virginia Tech Georgia Tech Homecoming Clash Puts Fifth Win on the Line

The Virginia Tech-Georgia Tech homecoming game is set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Lane Stadium. The Hokies are looking for their fifth win and a quick bounce back after last week’s late 25-20 loss at Cal.

It will be a full house in Blacksburg. The school says it’s the fourth straight sold-out home game of the 2026 season, with nearly 66,000 fans expected. The game airs on ACC Network and streams on the ESPN app.

Georgia Tech arrives with confidence.

The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 28-25 win over Duke, their first ACC win of the season. Running back Trelain Maddox ran for 81 yards and three touchdowns in that game. Quarterback Alberto Mendoza threw for 218 yards and a touchdown.

Third down has been a problem for Georgia Tech. The Jackets convert just 36.2 percent of the time, which ranks 13th of 17 ACC teams.

The Hokies’ defense has held up

Virginia Tech’s defense matches up well. The Hokies are allowing 86.5 rushing yards per game to opposing running backs, fourth best in the conference. Opponents are converting only 31.2 percent of third downs against them, also fourth best in the ACC. Slowing down Maddox will be the key.

Game day

Hokie Village runs from noon to 2:45 p.m. The Marching Virginians will perform at halftime, and homecoming royalty will be recognized.
