Hopewell Falls to Thomas Jefferson, 35–20

Hopewell, VA – September 19, 2025

The Hopewell Blue Devils came into Friday night’s matchup with hopes of defending home turf, but Thomas Jefferson spoiled those plans with a 35–20 victory at Merner Field.

The game started with both teams trading early scores, but Thomas Jefferson’s offense soon found its rhythm. Behind steady drives and timely big plays, the Vikings built a lead that Hopewell was never able to fully close.

Hopewell showed flashes on offense, putting up 20 points, but stalled drives and missed opportunities proved costly. Each time the Blue Devils looked ready to shift momentum, Thomas Jefferson answered with another scoring drive.

Defensively, Hopewell battled to contain the Vikings but couldn’t find enough stops in the second half. Thomas Jefferson’s ability to sustain drives and finish possessions ultimately made the difference.

The loss is a tough one for Hopewell, who will look to regroup as they move deeper into the season. For Thomas Jefferson, the road win is a statement performance that adds confidence heading into their upcoming schedule.
