McLaurin Sits Again Friday as Diggs Returns to Practice Before Monday Night in San Francisco

Terry McLaurin sits Friday again, and the Washington Commanders go into the weekend with real questions at receiver ahead of Monday night’s trip to San Francisco.

McLaurin did not practice Friday. He was limited on Thursday, and the team listed him with a hamstring issue and rest. Stefon Diggs went the other way: after missing Thursday with a hamstring injury, he was back as a limited participant Friday.

Several other names were missing from Friday’s practice. Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota (knee) sat out for a second straight day, along with running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin), K’Lavon Chaisson (knee, rest), Javontae Jean-Baptiste (pectoral), Javon Kinlaw (ankle, knee), and Charles Omenihu (groin, ankle).

Jayden Daniels practiced fully, still listed with his left elbow. Trey Amos (ankle), Nick Cross (illness), Quan Martin (illness), and Jeremy McNichols (quadriceps) also participated fully.

The limited group was long: Treylon Burks (shoulder), Percy Butler (hamstring), Austin Ekeler (chest), Jordan Magee (hamstring), Fabian Moreau (knee), Tyler Owens (hamstring), Lucas Patrick (illness), Jeremy Reaves (rib) and Rachaad White (shoulder).

Because Washington plays Monday, its final injury report with official game designations should come out Saturday. That’s when we’ll know whether McLaurin and Diggs are expected to suit up.

The timing isn’t great. Washington is 1-3-1 after last week’s 27-27 tie with the Giants and heads west to face a 49ers team still unbeaten at 5-0. Kickoff is at 8:15 p.m. Eastern on Monday at Levi’s Stadium on ESPN and ABC.
