THE SUMPTER SIX: RAVENS DROP FOURTH STRAIGHT HEADING INTO THE BYE WEEK

It’s week six and the Ravens are back in East Rutherford, NJ taking on the struggling New York Jets. Ravens are looking to head into their bye week on a high note. Unfortunately, the Ravens drop their fourth straight 24-16. This is a much-needed bye week that Baltimore needed as I give you The Sumpter Six for week six.

DEFENSE

Ravens’ defense did pretty well today versus the Jets despite all of the injuries to key players. They sacked Geno Smith and Ryan Fitzpatrick five times this afternoon. Matthew Judon rookie from Grand Valley State was a big factor in this game also. He finished the game with two sacks so you have something to look forward to after the bye.

JUSTIN TUCKER IS ON FIRE!

Each week that passes by Justin Tucker is gaining more and more confidence in his field goal kicking. He has been on fire in 2016 and he is becoming, if not is the best kicker in the NFL. He came into the game versus the Jets have yet to miss a field goal, 15 for 15. That continued today as he made three more field goals as he is now 18 for 18 to begin the season.

RAVENS SECOND HALF STRUGGLES

It was a tale of two halves for Baltimore. In the first half, Joe Flacco and the Ravens were clicking on all cylinders. Flacco thrown for almost 200 yards in the first half. In the second half, it was a completely different story. They had seven possessions and punted on four, the other two were Flacco interceptions and the other was a turnover on downs. Changes must be made during this bye week.

RAVENS BEATING THEMSELVES

The Baltimore Ravens have been beating themselves over this four-game losing streak. Committing penalties, missed assignments, poor execution. The Ravens came into the week already committed 52 penalties.

INJURIES

The injury bug has been on the Ravens roster for the last couple of seasons. Marshall Yanda, Ronnie Stanley, Steve Smith Sr, Elvis Dummervil, CJ Mosley, Terrell Suggs ALL were out against the Jets and it showed that they really needed them in the lineup. Eric Weedle and LaDarrius Webb were injured during the game. Let’s just say that this was a much-needed bye week.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE BYE WEEK

Next week is a much-needed bye week for Baltimore. During this time off, the Ravens need to get healthy, get some of those key players back from injury. Also, this is the time for offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg to get the offense on track. The schedule gets tougher for Baltimore after the bye as the Steelers come to the Charm City on November 6th.
