Kyle Busch and Joey Logano will not be penalized for “altercation” last weekend

By Fago FranklinMarch 18, 2017Nascar

Last weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano “mixed” it up after the race. Going into the final lap, Logano hit the back-end of Busch’s car, which sent him sprawling out of control. At the time, he was trying to make a move inside to keep Logano off him.

In the end, Busch finished in 22nd place, while Logano finished in fourth.

Tempers flared and both drivers had to be separated. After a thorough review, NASCAR officials decided not to penalize the drivers.

“Everything’s great. Looking forward to getting back to the race track and getting into my race car, said Logano.”

Logano reached out to Busch and said he will provide data to back up his contention that the on-track contact was not intentional.”He asked for some data and I was able to show him that,” Logano said of the conversation. “That’s that and we’ll move on.”

“Bringing in NASCAR competitors to meet face to face is “always our job” when an issue arises and a lot of times just texting to hear where a driver really stands is helpful,” he said, “and then the ultimate goal for us is to make them clear of our expectations moving forward as we head into this race weekend, said NASCAR Official Steve O’Donnel.

“Going forward NASCAR officials have been very clear in terms of any intentional on-track incidents. “We’re going to react,” he said. “We don’t want to have to do that. Do we think they’re best friends? No, but again, that’s what the sport’s built on and those are two guys that we really need out there racing hard for position.”

Logano maintained his fifth-place points position with his Las Vegas finish, while Busch improved five spots.
It will be interesting to see what will happen this Sunday at Sunday’s Camping World 500 with both of these drivers. Will Busch move on from last weekend’s crazy ending or will he take another jab at Logano?
