Arlington, VA —- For some, basketball is an outlet to take them places they’ve never been before. Trey Dickerson is a prime example of this. His college career has made stops at Iowa and South Dakota. Now, in his last season, he’ll be apart of the Patrick Ewing’s era at Georgetown.
“This is Coach’s (Patrick Ewing) first season so he wants to have a successful season and I get to contribute to that,” Dickerson said.
Hoyas fans have long-awaited for their beloved basketball program to return to respectability. Lately, everything has been about Maryland. Dickerson knows this. However, he’s not feeling any pressure. He wants to give this fan base everything they want.
“It definitely fuels me because it’s my last year. I want to be the start of a new era and trend the program for success for the future,” He said.
Trey Dickerson’s Perspective:
Dickerson sat down exclusively with Fox Sports 1340 AM and gave his first interview after committing Georgetown. As mentioned, there’s a lot of anticipation from the fan base. However, his new head coach told Dickerson exactly what his expectations are.
“He wants to see a little bit of everything from me. Scoring. Assists. Defense. Picking up full-court pressure, just overall game and just getting Georgetown back to where it was when he was there. That was the main conversation. Winning games.”
The Hoyas finished the season 14-18 and Dickerson understands that he has an opportunity to change that. Dickerson is a graduate transfer so he will come to the program with maturity. Which is fundamental to a basketball team that is going through a transition process.
