Washington, D.C. — Juventus fans in the U.S. capital turned World Football Day into a black-and-white celebration, rallying behind la Fidanzata d’Italia as the club faced Venezia FC in their Serie A 2024 season finale.
Over two dozen members of the Washington D.C. Official Juventus Fan Club gathered at Problem Child, a popular venue in the Navy Yard neighborhood, to cheer on their team. They were rewarded with a thrilling 3-2 victory, sealed by a decisive 73rd-minute penalty kick from midfielder Manuel Locatelli, sending the D.C. fanbase into celebration.
With the win, Juventus secured fourth place in Serie A and officially clinched a spot in the 2025–26 UEFA Champions League. The victory also sets a strong tone under newly appointed head coach Igor Tudor, as the team sets its sights on the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Fans at the event were also greeted by FIFA Club World Cup Street Team members, who handed out free t-shirts, merchandise, and giveaways to celebrate the tournament’s growing presence in the U.S.
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup officially kicks off on June 14, and Juventus will play their first match on June 18 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., against Al-Ain FC of the Arabian Gulf League.
Local supporters are buzzing with anticipation, as the expanded 32-team Club World Cup brings top-tier international football to U.S. soil for the first time.
Michael Corbin, founder of Juventus’ D.C. Fan Club, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, which will bring international club competition to the heart of the nation’s capital.
“Meaningful international club tournaments hardly ever happen, so the fact that we get [the FIFA Club World Cup] here in DC — people are ecstatic. People are just excited to see meaningful club football. The Club World Cup is the perfect opportunity for football to be in the limelight,”
When asked about the passion for soccer in the region, Corbin highlighted the area’s growing football culture:
“Soccer is really built into the [D.C.] area,” he said.
Juventus is no stranger to American fans. The club last played on U.S. soil in 2023, when they defeated Real Madrid 3-1 in a preseason match in Orlando, Florida as part of the Soccer Champions Tour.
Now, with the Club World Cup 2025 on the horizon, Juventus will return to the U.S. for one of the most significant international club tournaments ever hosted in North America.
