The Washington Commanders overcame a slow start to beat the Los Angeles Chargers 27–10 at SoFi Stadium on Sunday. The win improved Washington’s record to 3–2 and highlighted both a balanced offense and a timely defense.
The Chargers jumped out to an early 10–0 lead, but the Commanders quickly adjusted. Quarterback Jayden Daniels led efficient drives in the second half, completing 15 of 26 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown. He avoided turnovers and helped stabilize the offense after the rough start.
Rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt stole the show. He rushed for 111 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns. He also added 39 receiving yards, giving Washington a versatile threat on both the ground and through the air. Deebo Samuel contributed eight catches for 96 yards, including a key fourth-quarter conversion that helped seal the victory.
Washington’s defense played a major role in the comeback. Mikey Sainristil intercepted a pass deep in the red zone, stopping a potential Chargers score. The defense recorded five sacks and forced two turnovers, holding Los Angeles to just 10 points after the first quarter.
For the Chargers, Justin Herbert threw for 166 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also led his team in rushing with 60 yards. Keenan Allen made history as the fastest player to reach 1,000 career receptions, but his five catches for 58 yards weren’t enough to spark a comeback.
The Commanders’ victory shows they can compete with top teams on the road. Now, they aim to carry this momentum into the upcoming divisional matchups.
