FOX Sports Radio 96.9FM/1340AM’s Dean Perretta briefly caught up with FC Barcelona and Germany goalkeeper, Marc-André ter Stegen, 27, to discuss his proud ambassador role with acclaimed fitness brand Freeletics, coupled alongside the four-time La Liga champion and one-time UEFA Champions League winner sharing his very positive experiences with Freeletics. Furthermore, the highly-rated German also reveals how the life-changing Freeletics app has undisputedly become the go-to on his very own personal health and fitness quest.
Dean Perretta: Marc, can you talk about your proud ambassador role with Freeletics and, of course, the great success of this unique partnership to date?
Marc-André ter Stegen: Before joining the Freeletics family I knew about the app as my wife Dani used it, as well as friends back in Germany. It was always a product that I knew of and believed in. Fitness and health is a key constant topic in both my life and career, and it’s a topic I wanted to actively support. So when I had the opportunity to become an ambassador for Freeletics, it was the perfect fit for me. To be involved in developing my own workouts for a Training Journey was an activity I had never done before and I enjoyed it!
Dean Perretta: What are the primary qualities and technical beneficiaries of the Freeletics App and how strongly has it improved your performance training and approach?
Marc-André ter Stegen: With the app, I have a great guide with me at all times. I really like the different ways to work out and the flexibility it offers. This is how I like to work on my fitness, with as little equipment and as mush explosiveness as possible. I can train with lots of variety with Freeletics, and that works really well. The community aspect of the app also appeals to me, as it really helps to see what your friends are doing and to motivate each other to work out.
Dean Perretta: With regards to the much-praised Freeletics health and fitness plan, can you reveal more about the most popular recommended Freeletics plans, especially for individuals who are interested in incorporating the Freeletics training regime into their lifestyle?
Marc-André ter Stegen: The nice part of the variety is that there is something for everyone. Apart from my “Football Fit” Training Journey in the app, there is a nice selection of different workout plans, some using only your own bodyweight, some with weights for the gym, running-based ones and ones for beginners or which are just 15 minutes a day. It’s also helpful that the coach in the app can change my workouts based on my situation – if I don’t have equipment or time, if I am sore or need to train quietly, or if I can’t go for a run on that day. Variety and flexibility are really important if you want to make something your routine and part of your lifestyle.
Dean Perretta: The Freeletics website features an array of very inspirational health and fitness articles. However, what does it mean to share your personal health and fitness journey on the Freeletics website?
Marc-André ter Stegen: I wanted to share insights of how I train and prepare my body to be in the best shape. I train frequently, but not so much with weights, and don’t need a traditional gym space to do it either. It was an interesting experience to film and I think it works for any athlete or person, not just footballers. The important thing is to be active!
Dean Perretta: Lastly, where can the general public find out more information about Freeletics and indeed stay connected via social media?
Marc-André ter Stegen: You can find more information about Freeletics on their website (www.freeletics.com) and get inspiration and follow other stories on @freeletics on Instagram and Facebook.
