FIFA Awards 2025: Voting Opens for Marta & Puskás

Football fans worldwide can now help determine which unforgettable strikes will be crowned the best of the year as FIFA has revealed the shortlists for both the FIFA Marta Award and the FIFA Puskás Award. 

Voting is officially open on FIFA.com, with supporters able to rank their top three goals and  contributing 50% of the final decision alongside votes from a panel of FIFA Legends. The awards highlight the most spectacular goals scored between August 11, 2024, and August 2, 2025.

The shortlist for the Marta Award includes 11 nominees representing the top women’s goals of the year. These players delivered moments of brilliance across domestic leagues and international competition.

On the women’s side, Jordyn Bugg earned recognition for a long‑range strike for the North Carolina Courage against Seattle Reign, while Mariona Caldentey was nominated for a composed finish under pressure with Olympique Lyonnais against Arsenal. Ashley Cheatley’s determined solo run for Brentford, Kyra Cooney‑Cross’ curling effort for Australia against Germany and Jon Ryong‑jong’s sharply angled goal for Korea DPR against Argentina also made the list.

Marta added another nomination with a moment of instinctive brilliance for Orlando Pride against Kansas City Current. Vivianne Miedema was honored for a clean, first‑time volley for the Netherlands against Wales, and Kishi Núñez for a driven shot with Argentina against Costa Rica. Lizbeth Ovalle’s creativity for Tigres in a rivalry clash with Guadalajara, Ally Sentnor’s top‑corner strike for the United States against Colombia and Khadija Shaw’s powerful finish for Hammarby against Manchester City rounded out the women’s selections.

The men’s nominees included Alerrandro’s acrobatic finish for Vitória against Cruzeiro and Alessandro Deiola’s thunderous strike for Cagliari against Venezia. Pedro de la Vega impressed with a dazzling dribble and composed finish for Cruz Azul against the Seattle Sounders, while Santiago Montiel stunned Independiente Rivadavia with a late long‑range winner for Independiente.

Amr Nasser’s curling effort for Al Ahly against Pharco, Carlos Orrantía’s volley for Querétaro against Atlas and Lucas Ribeiro’s solo run for Sundowns against Borussia Dortmund added to the list. Declan Rice was recognized for a driven strike in Arsenal’s clash with Real Madrid, Rizky Ridho for a precise free‑kick with Persija Jakarta against Arema, and Kévin Rodrigues for a technically brilliant effort for Kasımpaşa against Rizespor. Lamine Yamal, meanwhile, electrified Espanyol vs. Barcelona with a moment of youthful skill and creativity.
