From Courts to Communities: Tremaglio Spotlights DMV Women Making Moves in Sports

Tamika Tremaglio joined Listen With KNN for the first time, the Fox Sports Radio show where host Kelsey Nicole Nelson and Tremaglio highlighted the recent achievements and rising excellence of women in sports.

During the conversation, Tremaglio and Nelson explored the growing momentum of women’s sports — particularly in the D.C. area — and discussed how increased fan engagement and community support are helping the industry reach new heights.

A native of Maryland and a dual-degree graduate from the University of Baltimore, Tremaglio was recently recognized among Maryland’s Top 100 Women alongside Nelson.

With more than three decades of leadership experience in finance, strategy, operations, and governance, she now leads Secretariat’s Global Sports Consulting practice.

Her previous roles include Executive Director of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) and CEO of Think450, the NBPA’s commercial arm, where she focused on expanding opportunities and visibility for athletes, including women.

Tremaglio has long advocated for greater representation and support in women’s sports, helping to drive initiatives that increase fan engagement, sponsorship, and professional opportunities for female athletes

“It is so exciting to see the momentum we have around women’s sports,” Tremaglio said. “You see the rising fan engagement, record-breaking sponsorships, growing media deals. It is a great time for women’s sports.”

Nelson and Tremaglio discussed the current landscape of women’s sports, including the recent launch of the Women’s Pro Baseball League. Tremaglio celebrated the significance of these developments and the continued expansion of opportunities for female athletes.

“It was a tribute to how far we’ve come,” Tremaglio said. “Some have said they are surprised it took us so long, but I think it’s a product of its time; we’re seeing significant triumph of women’s sports.”

The conversation also touched on the growth of the WNBA and other professional women’s leagues, emphasizing the role of fan engagement and community support in sustaining this momentum.

“We need to go to the games,” Tremaglio said. “Watch the draft, engage with the leagues, support the players when the season kicks off in Spring 2026. That’s what will make this successful — it takes all of us.”

For Tremaglio, the rise of women’s sports in the DMV isn’t just inspiring — it’s a crucial step in shaping the next generation of athletes, sports executives, and fans in the region.
