Nationals Winning Streak Stretches to Five Games

The Washington Nationals won their 5th straight game, beating the Mets on the road. Their 4-3 win in extra innings is their 4 straight win on their 9 game road trip.

The offense started early as Bryce Harper launched a 2 run home run to center field in the 1st inning.

A Conforto homer gave the Mets one run in this inning as well. Curtis Granderson responded with a RBI in the bottom of the 4th inning, tieing the game in the process.

After three scoreless innings, the Nationals took the lead as Jose Lobaton homered in the top of the 5th inning.

Curtis Granderson homered in the 6th to tie the game. Both pitching staffs pitched well as both teams went scoreless until the top of the 11th inning. Trea Turner scored in the 11th inning after being walked with the bases being loaded. Jeurys Familia’s blunder gave the Nats the lead.

New closer Shawn Kelley quickly finished the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. His 3rd save of the season. Tanner Roark pitched ver 6 innings, allowing 7 hits and 3 runs in his start.

The Nats will continue their series on Saturday Afternoon.
