Last night SmackDown was filled with a lot of twists and turns. This made it compelling television which had the fans on the edge of their seat the entire night I will provide my thoughts as well the results.
Stripped
Due to her unfortunate knee injury, Naomi was forced to relinquish her SmackDown Women’s Championship. There is a rule as a champion they must defend their title within 30 days. Therefore Daniel Bryan made a match for the vacant SmackDown Women’s Championship between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch.
New Champion
These two heated rivals went at it and Lynch was looking for revenge on Bliss for her past actions. This was an even contest, but Bliss used questionable tactics as she punched Lynch in the throat. Then she capitalized and grabbed Lynch’s tights on a roll-up to pick up the victory. After the match, Mickie James made her way to the ring to celebrate with the new Women’s Champion. However, James could not resist but to beat up Lynch. Lynch did not hold back and she fought back as well as this rivalry with James is not over.
Controversial finish
The main event for SmackDown was ten superstars battle royal. The last remaining superstar would move on to WrestleMania 33 to challenge Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship. Randy Orton won the Royal Rumble but he doesn’t want to face Bray Wyatt.
In a very entertaining battle royal, it was down to AJ Styles and Luke Harper. In the end, this match ended in controversy. Then SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan rushed out to the ring to talk with the referees. Bryan declared the match a draw but both Harper and Styles will battle next week to find out the new one contender for the WWE Championship.
