The Carolina Panthers have added a piece on defense following Sunday’s 59-37 loss to the Chicago Bears. The team signed veteran linebacker Tyrel Dodson off the practice squad, and waived wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. to make room on the 53-man roster.
Horn was drafted in the sixth round last year and was expected to handle return duties with Trevor Etienne on injured reserve.
Dodson, 28, has 43 career starts through seven seasons and has appeared in 92 games. He has spent time with the Dolphins, Seahawks and the Bills. Dodson signed with Buffalo as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M following the 2019 NFL Draft.
