Tony D’Angelo is headed for an NXT Championship match, and he got there with a little help from a man nobody saw coming.
The Don of NXT beat Myles Borne in Tuesday night’s main event to become the No. 1 contender for Grayson Waller’s NXT Championship. The story of the night, though, was the cameraman who kept hovering around ringside. He jumped on the apron late in the match, Borne took the bait, and D’Angelo put him away moments later.
After the bell, the cameraman showed his face. It was Tavion Heights. Heights hit Borne with a belly to belly suplex and then powerbombed him through the announce desk, a measure of payback after Borne turned on him at Heatwave and attacked him again last month.
Wren Sinclair Is Back, and She Has a Title Match
Wren Sinclair’s suspension is over. Last week, Sinclair won a battle royal with 20 women while disguised as AAA’s Lady Shani. Kelani Jordan wanted nothing to do with that result, but the crowd in Orlando was firmly behind Sinclair, and General Manager Robert Stone made the NXT Women’s Championship match official.
Jordan didn’t take it well and swung the title at Sinclair, but Sinclair kicked her away and ended up holding the belt. Later in the night, Kendal Grey, who has been medically cleared to return to the ring, showed up backstage to stand with Sinclair.
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Moves Ahead
Two quarterfinals were in the books Tuesday. The Vanity Project caught a break when Brad Baylor got his knees up on Starboy’s splash from the top, and Baylor and Ricky Smokes finished the job with a combination stomp. Later, Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno knocked off Fraxiom when Dar pinned Axiom. Both teams move on to the semifinals.

Other Notes From the Show
Armstrong went over the top rope and onto the floor she had exposed earlier in the night before La Catalina finished her off. Saquon Shugars lost his footing on the top rope against Tristan Angels, and the fight spilled outside before Angels got the win, which the crowd did not love. Waller had a run in with Shugars backstage afterward.
Elsewhere, Dion Lennox attacked Montana Cruz backstage, BirthRight confronted the Wagner family, and Izzi Dame and The Culling laid the groundwork for a future title fight with Zaria. To close the show, Stone found a mysterious note demanding that its writer be named host of Halloween Havoc, or he would be cursed. Danhausen fans, take note.
NXT Halloween Havoc is Saturday, October 31 on The CW, with Waller vs. D’Angelo and Jordan vs. Sinclair already locked in.
