The Last RAW before the New Year

Fresh off Christmas, it was the last RAW before the new year and it was extremely disappointing. Only a couple of matches that was worth watching but the rest of the show was a huge drop-off. Here are the highlights of the show in addition to the results:

1) Main event

Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns met once again in the main event this time it was for the United States Championship. Wrestling fans love to hate on Roman Reigns, however, what can’t be denied is that Owens and Reigns have incredible chemistry together. Both men pulled out all the stops in order to leave victorious.

Fans knew that Owen’s best friend Chris Jericho would make his presence known and he did just that. Reigns connected with a Superman Punch but a distraction by Jericho gave Owens enough time, to regroup and he paid homage to his best friend Chris Jericho with a Codebreaker to Reigns. However, Rollins came out to even up and he gave Jericho a Pedigree on the outside. Reigns capitalized with a Spear on Owens to retain his United States Championship.

2) Rematch

RAW began with a bang with an intriguing match as the New Day looked to finish 2016 and get their gold back. However, the newly crowned WWE Tag Team Champions Sheamus and Cesaro have been on quite been on a quite a roll with a lot of momentum. It was an excellent start to RAW and both tag teams tried to outperform each other. The WWE Tag Team Champions retained their titles they used their intelligence to their advantage. Sheamus used a blind tag and Xavier Woods did not see it, Sheamus countered the Honor Roll into a Brogue Kick for the win.

3) Build up

Braun Strowman still wanted revenge on Sami Zayn but he got an opportunity to go one on one with Seth Rollins. Stephanie McMahon promised Strowman that next week he will face Strowman in a Last Man Standing match. Strowman against Seth Rollins was short lived because Sami Zayn interfered and he attacked him as he came from the crowd. I can’t wait to witness their massive encounter next week and the build up for both characters has been very refreshing and simply unbelievable.
