The Washington Wizards got their first victory of the year with an 112-105 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves at home, bringing their home record to 14-6. With this win, the Wizards are now half a game of the Chicago Bulls for the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference Standings.
Coming off two losses to start of the year, Washington came home hoping to get some momentum going and get back on track. Like always, they started the game off strong leading the Wolves 56-48 at halftime. However, Minnesota would outscore the Wizards 37-24 and took a five-point lead heading into the 4th. Like they have been doing most of the season, the Wizards had to play catch-up in order to get a well-needed home win.
John Wall made sure he did everything to help. Dishing out six of his 18 assists and scoring eight of his 18 points in the fourth quarter. Washington would end the game on a 12-4 run to seal the win. Minnesota’s Andrew Wiggins torched the Wizs for 41 points. The bench scoring woes continued for these Wizards as they only scored 21 points, but the Wolves bench only scored 19 points.

The next game for the Wiz is Sunday on the road against the Milwaukee Bucks, where they lead the season series 2-1. The Wizards won both games against the Bucks on their home court but got blown out by the Bucks on the road by 27 points. Finding a way to contain Giannis Antetokounmpo will not be easy. He dropped 39 points on the Wizards during that blowout win. Jabari Parker is not an easy task either, seeing as though he could take over a game as well. Washington has one of the worst road records in the league at 3-12. The Bucks are coming off a tough home loss to the New York Knicks so they are looking to bounce back as well.
