Is it possible?
According to the New York Daily News, LeBron James has been pushing the Cleveland Cavaliers front office to trade for Carmelo Anthony. Anthony has been the talk of the town in New York. The Knicks are 22-31 and are looking like another bad season. In the offseason, they got Anthony the help he so desperately asked for. With additions of Derrick Rose, Brandon Jennings, Courtney Lee and Joakim Noah, the Knicks looked like a playoff team again….on paper. With injuries throughout the season and multiple last second losses, the Knicks are looking at another season outside the postseason.
On the other hand, the Cavs went 7-8 in January and James did not approve. He publicly claimed he needed more help. This came as a surprise seeing as they’re the defending NBA champions. The Cavs listened and got sharpshooter Kyle Korver. However, King James wanted more pieces for his courtship. LeBron wanted a backup point guard for the Kyrie Irving. Seeing as Anthony is a forward, this raises the question is there something else going on behind closed doors. James wants Carmelo even if it means giving up Kevin Love. If he does join the Cavs roster, they would have three elite scorers. It seems James wants this trade to compete with the Golden State Warriors adding Kevin Durant.
It will be interesting to see how Anthony plays along two other stars for the first time in his career. This trade could be really bad or really good. With or without the trade, Cleveland will still be the best team in the Eastern Conference. They will still be favorites in the East and will most likely be championship contenders. The only thing is there is only one ball to go around for Anthony, James, and Irving.
