We are only one day away from the most anticipation NBA Finals in history. Therefore, it is the perfect time to provide my overall thoughts on all the possible x-factors throughout this series.
Golden State Warriors
Draymond Green
Now on the Warriors, it’s obvious that Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant get all the credit. However, in my mind, Green is the MVP of the Warriors he sets the overall tone for the game doing everything dunks, steals, rebounds, hitting three’s and trash talking.
JaVale McGee
McGee won’t get the Warriors many points off the bench. He could provide a vital dunk, block or a hustle play to make the crowd invested and change the momentum with his overall energy.
Andre Iguodala
Andre Iguodala went from a starter but he has embraced a leadership role coming off the bench. Iguodala is a vital member of the Warriors overall success. Whenever the starters came out of the game, Iguodala can control the overall tempo and score crucial points when the Warriors need a lift off the bench.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Kevin Love
It is obvious that the Cavaliers are led by LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. However, Love will be monumental to their overall success. This current version of Kevin Love is the best since being traded to the Cavs.
JR Smith
JR Smith is always a wildcard in any game because he is a very streaker shooter. He has bought in playing defense since his arrival from the New York Knicks. Smith can snap and he can takeover at any moment of the game single handedly from deep with his unlimited range.
Tristan Thompson
Thompson doesn’t get enough credit as he deserves for being the muscle for the Cavs. He should have a field day with Zaza Pachulia because he cannot handle Thompson in the point. All Thompson needs to do is average a double-double. Thompson would be just as valuable if he got double digits in rebounds to give the Cavs second chance points.
Kyle Korver
The Cavaliers acquired Kyle Korver from the Atlanta Hawks for basically nothing back in January. At the time when they got Korver, this move made them the favorites, in my opinion, heading into the NBA finals. However, the Cavs have not utilized him properly. It doesn’t matter whenever Korver is on the floor as a defender you have to be aware because he could snap at any moment.
Deron Williams
Deron Williams was a late but quality acquisition by the Cavaliers he can be an underrated factor in quality minutes. In game 5 against the Celtics, he scored 14 points off the bench.
Conclusion
This series is going to be one for the ages and will no doubt be an instant classic. It will come down to which team will shoot better from deep because they both live and die from beyond the arc. However, the Cavs have chemistry and they know what it takes to win it all. Chemistry will play a massive role in the overall series. Not to mention that the Cavs have an inside presence in Tristan Thompson when they need easy buckets. On the other hand, the Warriors can’t handle him inside the paint.
