This Sunday marks the second Roadblock pay-per-view the first one was last year in Toronto. However, this year edition looks to be very compelling with a lot of intriguing matches.
(Kickoff match)
Big Cass vs. Rusev
The WWE is doing a better job at making their kickoff matches more interesting. Big Cass will be looking to get his revenge back on Rusev for his ambush attack on his tag team partner Enzo Amore. This should be a good match and will be a great opportunity for Big Cass to prove himself as a singles wrestler.
WWE Tag Team Championship
Cesaro and Sheamus vs. The New Day Â
The New Day barely survived this past Monday when they had defended their WWE Tag Team title not once but twice. They accomplished the impossible feat of breaking Demolition’s record for the longest reigning tag team champions in WWE history of 478. This Sunday will mark 483 consecutive days since The New Day won the WWE Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam in 2015.
Cesaro and Sheamus became the number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship, by winning a Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match on this year’s Tribute to the Troops event. After months of hating each other, they will finally get it done. Cesaro and Sheamus will become the new WWE Tag Team Champions it is time for a title change.
Sami Zayn vs. Braun Strowman
This match will be very interesting to see how it will play out. The RAW General Manager Mick Foley played with Sami Zayn emotions for weeks after he constantly lost to Braun Strowman. AÂ massive opportunity here for Strowman to prove that he can go at least ten minutes in the ring. The match should go past 10 minutes however it could end in a no contest because I can’t see Strowman losing.
WWE Cruiserweight Championship
TJ Perkins vs. The Brian Kendrick vs. Rich Swann
This match will be fantastic “The Outlandish” Rich Swann has overcome all the odds in his life. Swann is on top of the world currently as the WWE Cruiserweight Champion. Swann will have to defend his championship against The Brian Kendrick and TJ Perkins in a triple threat match. Perkins made history when he became the inaugural WWE Cruiserweight Championship back at the Clash of Champions pay-per-view.
At The Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, Kendrick took the title away from Perkins he faked an injury to his an advantage as he captured the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Swann defeated Kendrick on the 205 Live in the debut show. This is a close match to call but Swann will retain his WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho
A heated rivalry between Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho will be taken to another level come this Sunday. This feud started as Rollins was one of the main reasons why there was tension created between the former best friends Kevin Owens and Jericho. Jericho screwed Rollins in a WWE Universal Championship match against Owens. Rollins got his revenge on Raw. He would brutally assault Jericho in a parking lot which ended with a Pedigree to Jericho on top of the roof of a car.
Raw Women’s Championship
(30-Minute WWE Iron Man Match)
Charlotte Flair vs Sasha BanksÂ
These two women have been a vital part of the women’s revolution. Banks made history when she became a three-time RAW Women’s Champion defeating Charlotte in a falls count anywhere match. Banks competed in the first-ever Women’s WWE Iron Man Match at NXT TakeOver Brooklyn in 2015 against Bayley where she lost her NXT Women’s Championship.
This will mark the first time that two women wrestlers will have an Iron Man match on a Raw branded pay-per-view. In addition, as if the stakes could not get any higher the loser will not get a rematch. I envision that Banks will retain her WWE Women’s championship. She will put an end to Charlotte’s undefeated pay-per-view streak which is an impressive 14-0 since she made her debut on the main roster at pay-per-views.
WWE Universal Championship
Â
Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens
Owens will have to deal with his toughest competition yet against the United States Champion Roman Reigns. This feud started when Owens and Jericho, blamed Reigns as the main reason for Team Raw’s loss to Team Smackdown Live at this year’s Survivor Series pay-per-view. Reigns silenced the critics when he defeated Owens to earn a shot at the WWE Universal Champion. Jericho will be involved in some capacity however, Owens will find a way to retain his Universal Championship.
