Sam Darnold Carted Off Field in Panthers Preseason Game

Days after learning that he would no longer be the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, Sam Darnold was carted off the field in the third quarter of Carolina’s final preseason game. Darnold’s left ankle was rolled after a hit by CJ Brewer. The USC product initially hopped up after contact before buckling in pain.

Trainers brought the cart out and Darnold exited the field to cheers from Panthers fans. Before his departure, Darnold was 5-of-11 for 49 yards and a QBR of 58.8; he also had a 1-yard rushing touchdown.
