The Seattle Seahawks and the conflict of trading Richard Sherman has impacted the organization in a big way. In order to trade Sherman, the “Hawks” want monumental terms for his departure. NFL’s Network Insider Ian Rapoport confirmed the news that the “Hawks” wanted “A first-round pick and a very good player on a low contract.”
“I think we’re a very unique organization in that regard. We have a great relationship with a lot of our players. There’s very much an openness. What you’ve seen lately in the news is real. That’s on both sides. It’s just open communication. He knows what’s going on. We know what’s going on. I don’t know if anything would ever happen, but like I tell people all the time, 98 percent of the deals that we’re involved with, we don’t follow through with. At least we’ve opened that door, gone down the road and seen what’s behind door A or door B,” said Seahawks’ General Manager John Schneider.
Despite playing on a bum leg last season, Sherman proved that he was mentally tough playing 14 out of 16 games and impacted the pace on defense.
In his career, Sherman has walked the walked with his “tough trash talking” ability. He does not let receivers intimidate him and he has always taken the challenge of guarding the best. However, Sherman does have a flaw and flare that could be positive or negative for the team. He wants the best for his teammates, but when he gets on his teammates, it is in the public eye. Some have wondered how Seahawks’ coach Pete Carroll keeps all of his players intake with their strong personalities.
“I let them be themselves. It makes us who we are and at the end of the day, we all want to win,” said Carroll.
Since Sherman stepped into the NFL, he has taken opponents out of their game plan. Quarterbacks have to always find where he is. Sherman is a very quick, tall and physical corner. So many times, Sherman has come out of nowhere to make a play down the field or put a big hit on someone to alter the game.
In his career, he has 30 interceptions two touchdowns. If the Seahawks lose him through a trade, it will change the defense up. The defense feeds off of Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman’s energy on the field, so it will be interesting to see what the Seahawks will do in the next few weeks.
