The Baltimore Orioles are back in the win column

On Wednesday night, the Orioles squared off against the Angels with a 19 game losing streak intact, two losses away from tieing the American League record.

The Orioles would send Chris Ellis to the mound to face Shohei Ohtani. Baltimore came out the gate swinging in the first inning Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander would hit solo home runs, Mullins 22nd and Santander’s 11th on the season to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead. In the top of the 2nd inning, Brandon Marsh would single to drive in two runs to tie the ballgame up at two. The Angels would break the game open in the 4th when Brandon Marsh hit a solo home run to give L.A. a 3-2 lead: later in the inning, Jared Walsh would hit a 3 run homerun to extend the lead to 6-2. The Orioles would answer back in the bottom of the 4th inning with a 2 run homerun from D.J. Stewart to cut the Angels lead to two. Cedric Mullins grounded out in the 7th inning to cut the Angels to lead to one run.

The Baltimore Orioles would break the game open themselves in the bottom of the 8th inning with five runs. Ramon Urias walked with the bases loaded to tie the game up, Kelvin Gutierrez walked to give the Orioles the lead at 7-6, Austin Hays doubled to extend the lead to 9-6, and Cedric Mullins hit a sacrifice fly to extend the lead again to 10-6. Baltimore would end up winning by a final score of 10-6 to end the 19 game losing streak.

Ohtani would go 0-4 on the night at the plate and give up four runs in five innings, Ohtani would end with a no-decision. Tanner Scott is the winning pitcher, he improves to 5-4, Jake Petricka takes the loss for the Angels as he drops to 0-1 on the season.
