The WWE has had a Cruiserweight Classic and United Kingdom Tournament. Both events were great and made its mark in WWE history. It’s now time for the Women to do the same. Annocued during the weekend of WrestleMania 33, the company announced that there will be a Women’s Tournament later on in 2017. That tournament would end up being named after WWE Hall of Famer Mae Young.
Summertime in Wrestling is full with tournaments but this is something different. This tournament will be held on the WWE Stage, which means that the global reach will be more immersive. The first few rounds will be taped today (13th) and tomorrow (14th) at Full Sail where the NXT tapings are held.
“The first four episodes of the single-elimination tournament will be available on demand starting Monday, Aug. 28. Episodes 5-8 will be available on demand on Monday, Sept. 4. The final match will stream live from Las Vegas on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 10 p.m. ET.” – According to WWE.com
So maybe reading spoilers won’t be smart walking into this tournament.
Full List of Participants
The WWE picked a nice pool of international and domestic talent. Unlike their previous two tournaments, the WWE is featuring more wrestlers who are signed to NXT before the tournament than after the tournament. There are no true favorites coming in unless you’re a true Women’s Wrestling fan. We will see how things go as the tournament moves on.
