The Jacksonville Jaguars is expected to hire intern head coach Doug Marrone on Monday. Marrone stepped in as the Jaguars’ intern head coach after Gus Bradley was released after a dreadful 3-13 season. In his debut, Marrone went 1-1 and looks to be the front runner coach for the Jags.
Bradley’s NFL experience as a head coach has been a rollercoaster. He established himself in Buffalo and went 15-17. In 2014, he gave the Bills their first winning record in years, going 9-7.
The Jaguars’ have many problems. They have an inexperienced quarterback that has not be molded into the possibility of what he can be. Blake Bortles has the potential to be a good quarterback if he had an offensive line that could help him out. Week in and week out, Bortles struggled to find his rhythm. He did not have the confidence at the end of the season like he did at the beginning of it, but he is optimistic that he will improve in the offseason.
“Whoever the new head coach is, I totally understand that he’s going to play at quarterback who he wants to play at quarterback and I have no problem with that. I understand that. I think it’s the right thing to do. That’s part of why I’m going out and getting ready to have my best offseason, so I’m ready to come in to compete for a job if it comes for that.”
The Jaguars will have to find a way to get their confidence back. On the defensive side of the ball, the Jaguars showed up big time and competed against some opponents that they were supposed to lose to.
With Marrone as the coach, the team responded in a good way. The organization felt like he and the team was moving in the right direction.
