Minorities in Sports (MiS), a multicultural sports business community, is hosting the 4th annual “Toast to Black Sports” during Super Bowl LX week on Thursday, Feb 5 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Union Square in San Francisco, Calif.
Founded in 2016 by Shaina Wiel Toast to Black Sports is a national and invite-only event that was created to establish diverse business opportunities in sports. Weil has been in the sports industry since 2008 helping athletes and companies on strategizing their public brand.
Wiel also co-founded a program to support students with her sister Keisha called “You Got In!” The two support students in Aruba and Curaçao in applying and connecting with universities in the United States.
The event celebrates Black leadership in the sports industry and honors executives who made significant impact in business and advocacy.
The 2026 honorees include former two-time All-Pro NFL linebacker, Takeo Spikes, Head of Black Wealth Strategies JP Morgan Private Bank, Debra Langford and Carl Francis, an NFLPA veteran leading athlete development and philanthropist.
Off the field, Spikes is as an award-winning broadcaster, elevating athlete welfare and community reform through the Players Coalition and Player Care Foundation and a college football analyst for SEC Network.
Langford’s work includes guiding generational wealth strategies for the Black community in entertainment, tech and finance. She has also served as an executive director for JP Morgan Private Bank Chase & Co for business development and a board member for the California Film Commission to increase opportunities for women.
Francis established programs that support current and future NFL players in financial literacy through NIL education with his 30+ years of experience in athlete development. Francis is also an adjunct professor in the Sports Industry Management program in Georgetown University’s School of Media and Public Affairs.
Media opportunities will include interviews with honorees and MiS founder and coverage of award presentations. “Listen In With KNN” founder, host and executive producer Kelsey Nicole Nelson will be in attendance at the event.
The MiS provides programming, in-person experiences, curated digital communities and hosting year-round programs to build leadership in leagues, agencies and media.
