New Beginnings: WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament Review

Saturday and Sunday marked the first time that WWE had the first ever United Kingdom Championship tournament that showcased British talent on the WWE Network. Sixteen competitors will go to go to battle until there was one final wrestler that would be crowned the inaugural WWE UK Champion.

The native of Dudley, England, celebrates with his fellow competitors as this pivotal tournament comes to a close.
New Champion

The Finals match was intriguing as Pete Dunne took on his former student Tyler Bate. Dunne had an advantage going into this match because after Bate’s match, Dunne saw an opportunity and he capitalized he assaulted Bate from behind he focused on Bate’s shoulder. The result of this attack caused Bate to separated his AC joint but he cleared to go to take part in the finals.

Any words cannot describe how good this match truly was people need to see this match to understand. Dunne brought the pain to Bate the entire match. However, Bate showcased his heart and he fought hard and against all odds he did not give up. “The Bruiserweight” continuously attempted to wear down Bate targeting his injured shoulder. Dunne hit the Bitter End on Bate it was only for a near fall. The 19-year did the impossible he defeated Dunne Bate pulled it off with the Tyler Driver 97 somehow to become the inaugural WWE United Kingdom Champion in history. After the match, WWE Executive Vice President Triple H, William Regal, Fit Finlay and Bálor presented Bate with the WWE United Kingdom Championship. The crowd exploded for Bate and they were absolutely incredible all throughout the match.

"The Last King of Scotland" shocks many by beating Seven and making it to the Semifinals.
New talent

Shoutout to all the talent because they did not disappoint at all there were too many wrestlers that blew me away. I thought all 16 competitors should be signed to a WWE contract. The two wrestlers that impressed me the most during this tournament was Mark Andrews and Wolfgang. I have been following Mark Andrews ever since he got his first break with Impact Wrestling years ago Andrews deserves all the spotlight on him right now.

It was my first time getting to witness Wolfgang and he turned serious heads. Wolfgang reminds me of the late great ECW Balls Mahoney however, with serious ability in the ring for his weight. His ability to fly in the ring for such a big guy is simply unbelievable Wolfgang stock has risen the most throughout the tournament.

Tommy End Debut

Everybody in attendance and the millions watching on the WWE Network was surprised to see Neville. Neville was bragged that he is the best wrestler in the world as it relates the United Kingdom. Then everybody was shocked once again when Tommy End made his WWE de. Tommy End did not disappoint at all with his unique offense from his high flying to his submission holds. However, nobody can stop Neville as he won via the Red Arrow.

Conclusion

Overall these two days were spectacular and this tournament put British Wrestling on the map on a global level. Nigel Mcguinness he is a great addition to the WWE broadcast team due to his vast knowledge. Mcguinness did an excellent job on commentary as expected and I can’t wait to see more of Mcguinness moving forward. This tournament was done flawlessly from start to finish and it was one of the best shows to date. I predicted that Pete Dunne would go all the way but he fell short in the finals. If you didn’t get a chance to watch this tournament I highly recommend that you watch it on the WWE Network.
